Topics in 3D: Visual Narrative
PUFA 3230; CRN 5240
This project-driven studio course introduces practices and concepts that evoke a visual narrative. Students will evolve their knowledge of process, presentation, and fabrication and develop their work through various projects, such as private/public, identity, participatory, change. We will look at artists such as; Kara Walker, Damián Ortega, Chiharu Shihota, and Charles Avery. By working in varying degrees of scale, context, and diverse methodologies, the goal is to provide a more profound and broader context for each student’s visual and material practice.
Open to: Bachelors degree in Fine Arts majors, others by permission of the Fine Arts program. Pre-requisite(s): PUFA 2200 Core Seminar 1: Sign & System, PUFA 2230 Core Studio 1: 3D, and at least one of the following: PUFA 2220 Core Studio 1: 2D or PUFA 2240 Core Studio 1: 4D.
