Artist Statement

I am fascinated by the relationship the internet has over our emotional output and the way we perceive ourselves. This fascination includes the virality, the desire, and the fear that the internet creates. From username creation to character creation, the level of investment we put in as users is an attempt to shorten the distance between ourselves and our avatars.

My art practice is centered on the experience I have as a user of the internet. The
internet demands me to evaluate the way my conscious, subconscious, and body drift between the physical and metaphysical. I seek to explore the feelings, and spaces that I empathize with in order to create compositions that have a free-associative conversation between one another. I work with paint as a medium to explore the expressions that I seek to convey. These very expressions evolve into relationships that enable the canvases to participate in an active dialogue with one another–contrasting and harmonizing. In an age filled with digital experiences, I seek to capture the moments of confusion, beauty, claustrophobia, and anxiety that are experienced in the duality between our internet selves and our physical being.
