Artist Statement

Autobiography is the approach that I take as an artist; pulling from my life experiences to create diary-based pieces that are anecdotal, yet can be related to by the viewer. My interests lie in the usage of identity as a material, along with the exploration of love and intimacy as continuous themes. The body itself as a subject matter is essential in my work, as I consider the body functioning like a vessel for stories to be told. The mediums that I most frequent are video and performance, but I also integrate painting, text, and sculptures into my work. The fluidity in my work’s mediums, as well as the incorporation of different materials and technologies, represents the way I view my experiences of love— complex, layered, and malleable.
