Parsons Faculty Anthony Graves of Camel Collective Debuts Solo Show

Camel Collective (Anthony Graves & Carla Herrera-Prats) are pleased to present the artists’ first solo museum exhibition, “La distancia entre Pontresina y Zermatt es la misma que la de Zermatt a Pontresina (The Distance from Pontresina and Zermatt Is the Same as the Distance from Zermatt to Pontresina)” at Museo Universitario Arte Contemporaneo (MUAC) in Mexico City.

The two-channel video and sound installation presents a multilayered narrative about encounters delayed and resistances displaced through the last letters exchanged between the philosophers Theodor W. Adorno and Herbert Marcuse during the student protests of 1968–9. Situated in the context of Mexico City and shot with by an ensemble of blind actors and Foley artists, the work poses questions about theory and practice, the constructed-ness of the moving image and that of social movements in general.
