IEA’s Experimental Project Residency Program, Alfred, NY, United States

The IEA’s Experimental Project Residency Program will support an artist with a one or two week residency, an artist stipend, travel, lodging, technology access, materials, and technical assistance. Artists have access to a combination of emerging, contemporary, and historical media arts tools and materials, many unique and not ordinarily available in a studio setting. Artists will have access to state-of-the-art digital arts facilities. The resident artists have 24 hour dedicated access to the IEA studio and equipment as well as scheduled access to additional video and sound studios. To be eligible for this residency you must be a New York State resident. Currently enrolled students are not eligible.

Portuguese Emerging Art 2018, Lisbon, Portugal

The EMERGE Cultural Association’s mission is to promote contemporary art and, in particular, the work of emerging artists. The book PEA2018 (Portuguese Emerging Art 2018) meets this mission. The second edition of PEA2018 will be a project that is based on a philosophy of projection of all artistic praxis in the universe of plastic arts, digital art/new media art, artistic ceramics, drawing, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, painting, sound art, and video art, divulging what is best done by the hands of emerging Portuguese artists in and out of doors.

Public Art for Sawmill Community, Albuquerque, NM, United States

The Albuquerque Arts Board and its Sawmill Art Selection Committee have initiated a national open competition, to commission a large-scale, site-specific outdoor work of art for the Sawmill Community Land Trust, located near Albuquerque’s Old Town/Museum District. MTA Railroad Call for Images, New York, NY, United States

MTA Arts & Design seeks images of artists’ previous work to review in consideration for a new Percent for Art project to be fabricated in durable materials to be determined, such as metal. An approved favricator will be translating the final artwork design into the identified medium, therefore an artist’s prior experience, or lack thereof, with these materials will not be taken into consideration when reviewing images. The budget for design and fabrication of the artwork for the station is to be determined, including an artist fee of up to 20% of the final art project cost. As part of this fee, the selected artist will be required to submit a budget, produce completed designs, select a fabricator and oversee the fabrication and installation of the artwork, with project management by MTA Arts & Design. Artists must be available to work in New York during the required design and construction period (2018—2019).

Ink, Press, Repeat: National Juried Printmaking and Book Art Exhibiton, Wayne, NJ, United States

Since 2001, the University Galleries at William Paterson University has organized an annual juried printmaking exhibition featuring traditional and digital print media and book art. One artist will be selected to have a future solo exhibition at the University Galleries. Open to all artists residing in the United States. International Summer Program at The Watermill Center, Watermill, NY, United States

Each July and August, approximately 60-100 artists from over 30 countries gather at Watermill’s Long Island, NY site. The Summer Program provides a unique opportunity to observe the development and performance methodologies of Robert Wilson and his collaborators; to work with established professionals in the international performing arts world; to forge relationships with artists from a broad range of experience levels and disciplines; to develop networks of US and international professional contacts; and to investigate what it means to be a “global artist.” The Summer Program participants receive access to an extensive collection of resources including daily meetings with Robert Wilson and opportunities to propose and develop new work for public presentation during The Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit & Auction and Discover Watermill Day. Participants will also have an opportunity to audition for Robert Wilson’s summer staging rehearsals and to take part in workshops with his collaborators. There is a $10 application fee.

Muse Salentine Artist Residency, Alessano, Italy

Muse Salentine is a non-profit cultural association based in Alessano, Lecce. The residency will take place in July in Alessano, and come to an end in an informal exhibition of work to coincide with the festival’s mid-summer concerts. Typically, these evening concerts are attended by an average of 100 guests at a time, and there will be three to four concerts scheduled for the first part of the festival, which generally sits on the end of July and start of August.

Push the Button On Off Gallery is a space created with the aim of promoting new artists working in the digital field, inviting them to reflect on ever-changing themes. The call invites artists to think about the consequences resulting from a simple action such as pushing a button. The most representative work of the theme will be physically realized using the buttons of the Fratelli Bonfanti’s company (www.bonfantifratelli.com) and shown as a temporary installation in the month of February 2018 in the city of Genoa, Italy. The artist retreat at the Montello Foundation is meant to be a retreat from the urban environment. It will provide a new perspective for residents’ work and give residents space and time for undisturbed experimentation and reflection. AFRICA’S OUT! (AO!) is deeply committed to socially engaged art and artists, and seeks an artist who can demonstrate a commitment to their practice. AO! Is seeking propsals for a studio residency in NYC. Successful artists will be granted a studio space, living space and $5,000 cash award for food, travel and materials. Artists have 24-hour-access to the studio and are expected to work consistently in the studio (aiming for a minimum of thirty hours per week), and participate in at least two open studios and in AO! programming events. At the end of the residency, the artist will present their work to a selected group of artists, curators, gallerists and museum professionals. Applicants must be at least 25 years of age.

The Emmanuel College Art Department offers an eight-week artists residency to four artists each summer from mid June to mid August. Fine Arts Work Center Fellowship, Provincetown, MA, United States

The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. 10 writers, 10 visual artists.
Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. The Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund Inc. (The Statue Fund) is commissioning and endowing a monument in Central Park honoring Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, pioneers in the battle for Woman Suffrage and the movement for women’s rights. The creation of this monument representing real women will mark the first time in the 164-year history of Central Park that women’s contributions to this city, state, and nation will be commemorated in statue form. With support from the NYC Parks Department and the Central Park Conservancy, the site for this monument is in The Mall of Central Park. This location will ensure that many of the 42 million people who visit Central Park each year will become more aware of a history that fully and fairly includes the important roles women have played in it.

The Cooper Union is pleased to offer four professional artist residencies within the Summer Art Intensive Program. The fellowships will be given to outstanding visual artists who will spend one month, June 28 – August 1, on-campus developing a new project in the Painting and Drawing department. The residency, which began in 1993, was created to support teaching artists whose professional practice in action would contribute to the education of the summer program pre-college students. The residency provides spacious, sky lit professional studios, and an exhibition honoring the residents’ work. The exhibition will be organized by the Cooper Union immediately following the residency in conjunction with the pre-college program. On site studio activity and exhibition participation is required. Please note, access to the woodshop, darkroom, and printmaking facilities will not be available. The artists in residence will be invited to present their work to the summer program students and faculty, and may participate in guest lectures, critiques, and other events.
