Artist Statement
As an interdisciplinary artist, I view all material as potential metaphor. My practice includes experimentations in sculptures, paintings, videos and installations. I became interested in dream experiences, and in particular, the relationship between subconscious activities and reality during the process of investigating one’s inner psychological world. My works mainly focus on how dreams and memories reflect each other as recurring moments by repeating and emphasizing certain behaviors or images in dreams. Starting from a personal perspective, I aim to approach the in-between space of the real and surreal, conscious and unconscious, internal and external. And I try to resonate with others’ experiences and feelings that are shared in our collective unconscious. My recent work has included some experimental films in which I’m curious to see how dream scenarios are reconstructed and narrated through the waking state.
