Meghana Karnik organizes culturally responsive, artist-centered projects across modalities as a curator, arts administrator, and artist. Her interests lie in ‘alternative’ spaces, interdisciplinary and experimental art practice, and discourses connecting art with social change. Most recently, she was Associate Curator of FRONT International 2022 (Cleveland, OH). Prior, she was Associate Director of EFA Project Space (New York, NY), a collaborative, cross-disciplinary exhibition space and incubator for interdisciplinary artists and curators. At EFA, she produced thematic group exhibitions, artist projects, public programs, and co-facilitated SHIFT: A Residency for Arts Workers from 2014-2019. She has curated exhibitions and artist projects at The Cleveland Institute of Art’s Reinberger Gallery (Cleveland, OH), Penthouse Art Residency (Brussels, BE), Foundation and Center for Contemporary Art (Prague, CR), and Zygote Press, Inc. (Cleveland, OH); and held arts management roles at Harlan Levey Projects (Brussels, BE), Critical Practices, Inc. (New York, NY), Teachers College Columbia University (New York, NY), SPACES (Cleveland, OH), and Cleveland Clinic Art Program (Cleveland, OH). She is on the advisory board of Critical Practices, Inc. (New York, NY). Karnik holds an MA in Arts Administration, Columbia University, a BA in Political Science and Art History, Case Western Reserve University, and studied Drawing at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
