Josiah McElheny investigates 20th century modernist history in hopes of critically expanding the dominant narratives of art, aesthetics, design, and architecture. His sculpture, writing, performance, and film embody both his conceptually rigorous approach and his physical mastery of materials, such as glass. Recipient of a MacArthur Foundation award, his works have been celebrated internationally and have been featured at the Wexner Center for the Arts; ICA Boston; Whitechapel Art Gallery, London; Museo de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Kunstalle Dusseldorf; and MoMA, NY, and others.
