Alper Turan (he/they, b. 1993, Ankara) is a curator and writer currently based in Toronto, Berlin, and Istanbul. His ongoing practice and research draw from transnational and transtemporal queer strategies, archives, and fictions, including global HIV/AIDS narratives, to experiment with undetectable and uncensorable aesthetics. Turan was a 2023–24 curatorial fellow at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program and a 2023–24 General Idea fellow at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa. He is the co-founder of STRÜKTÜR, a Berlin-based association dedicated to forming and expanding support structures for artists from the geography of Turkey. Turan is also a PhD student in Art History at the University of Toronto.
