Interrogating contemporary legacies of colonialism that have impacted the lives of Aboriginal peoples in his homeland of Australia, Tony Albert mines popular culture imagery and art historical source material while drawing upon personal and collective histories. Winner of the prestigious 2014 Basil Sellers Art Prize, his work has exhibited and been collected by major institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery.
