Penelope Umbrico’s multi-disciplinary installations utilize search engines, web platforms, consumer software applications, and the physical materials of technology to explore the production and consumption of objects and images, and the practices and cultures that produce them. Umbrico’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is represented in numerous museum collections. Awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, and a Sharpe-Walentas Studio Fellowship. Her monographs have been published by Aperture NYC and RVB Books Paris. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY
