Mernet Larsen is known for her geometric, perspectivally skewed paintings in which ordinary situations become disquieting, unfamiliar. She has exhibited at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington D.C; American Academy of Arts and Letters, NY; and White Cube in London. Her paintings are in the collections of the Whitney Museum, LACMA, Carnegie Museum of Art, Walker Art Center, New Wales Gallery Sydney, Australia, and other major foundations and museums in Spain, Italy, London, and the US. The Tampa Museum of Art recently organized a 60 year survey of her work, and she is Professor Emeritus at the University of South Florida. Represented by James Cohan Gallery in New York, her upcoming solo show will run from April 19-June 3, 2018.
This event is open to current Fine Arts students only. The lecture will be taped and will be available via our Vimeo channel following the event.
