Social choreographer Ernesto Pujol creates durational group performances as public portraits of peoples and places that are haunted by the past, face challenging issues at present, or confront future threats. Pujol designs immersive, meditative cultural experiences, carefully crafted with elements of walking, stillness, silence, and mindful gestures borrowed from the daily life of the host sites. In that sense, Pujol recruits and trains citizens to perform themselves to each other, claiming and owning the art as theirs from the start.
