E.V. Day’s work explores themes of sexuality and humor while employing gravity-defying suspension techniques. By manipulating iconic imagery from popular culture, Day re-animates the recognizable into new forms that illuminate contradictions in gender roles and stretch the confines of social stereotypes. Her work has been collected and exhibited at many international venues including Philip Johnson’s Glass House, Lincoln Center, NYC Opera, the Whitney Museum, Deitch Projects, MoMA, SFMOMA, The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and Galerie Hans Meyer in Berlin, among others. Recently she received the prestigious Rome Prize for Visual Arts.
