Christine Sun Kim uses the medium of sound through technology to interrogate the ownership of sound, explore oral languages as social currency, deconstruct preconceived ideas about silence, and above all, unlearn sound etiquette. Often working collaboratively, she composes visual scores with sign language and musical symbols. Exhibitions/ performances include: Sound Live Tokyo; White Space, Beijing; LEAP, Berlin; Carroll/Fletcher, London; Andquestionmark, Stockholm; and MOMA, New York. Her residencies include the Whitney Museum, and she has been a Fellow at both TED and MIT Media Lab.
