Cheryl Dunye is producer, cinema artist, academic, and activist. She directed the films MOMMY IS COMING (2012), THE OWLS (2010), MY BABY’S DADDY (2004), STRANGER INSIDE (2001), THE WATERMELON WOMAN (1997) and numerous short films that have be celebrated at national and international film festivals worldwide. Here recent production BLACK IS BLUE won the audience award for best short film in the 2014 SF Frameline Film Festival. Presently based in Oakland, Dunye is an Assistant Professor in the Cinema Department at San Francisco State University.
