Carlos Motta’s multi-disciplinary work draws upon political history in an attempt to create counter narratives that recognize suppressed histories, communities, and identities. Recent shows include his career survey at Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín; the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional / Claustro de San Agustín, Bogotá; “SPIT! Manifesto” at Frieze Projects, London; Pérez Art Museum, Miami; and Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires. Motta participated in the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo, was awarded the Future Generation Art Prize of the PinchukArtCentre and the Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise.
