Basim Magdy was born in Assiut, Egypt in 1977. He currently lives and works in Basel, Switzerland and Cairo. In 2012 he was shortlisted for the second edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, Pinchuk Art Centre and in 2014 he won the Abraaj Art Prize, Dubai.Selected upcoming shows in 2014 include La Biennale de Montreal and Art in General, New York.
