The word “Identity” implies an individual’s potential in having a stable self, when in fact we may have many different dimensions of identities we chose to reveal and conceal. The advancement of technology brings diverse ways of mediating one’s identity through media. Examining the phenomena of Facebook profiles, online dating, and reality television points towards the tension between the constructed persona and private identity. The goal of this exhibition is to examine public personas formed as a result of personal identities becoming projected through various digital and analogue media. The exhibit focuses on the tensions between the identity that we project, and the identities we conceal behind the projection. The subjects we are exploring are shrouded in secrets and presented through anonymity. Our work will be about a process of unveiling facades to show unearthed identities.
