The body is a source and repository of a kind of knowledge that is difficult to access or understand. It has its own time, space, memories, action, and reaction. Nevertheless, we, as embodied beings, put this knowledge of body into action every day as we navigate the world. Even in stillness, it is active without our awareness. This exhibition encompasses practices that begin with observing this knowledge in action and using it as a means of reflecting inwards on individual lived experience, or of projecting it outwards into space and other bodies. As a result of this common theme of an inner sense externalized, the works in this exhibition are alternately personal, political, meditative, reflective, and spiritual, while attempting to remind the viewers of their own bodies through their observation of the artist’s bodies and their residues.
