Parsons Fine Arts BFA exposes students to an array of studio practices, ideas, communities and global relationships. Our students learn to translate ideas into visual expression by developing fundamental skills in a variety of media and exploring diverse contemporary artistic strategies. They embrace interdisciplinary approaches to thinking about visual culture. Above all, they cultivate the intellectual, conceptual, and critical thinking required to successfully launch their careers as professional artists. Students begin by learning traditional techniques relating to painting, drawing, sculpture and the moving image, and are encouraged to be innovative and push the boundaries of what contemporary art can be. We have students working across many media, experimenting with public engagement, video, animation, photography and digital imaging.
