Amy Dos Santos is a interdisciplinary artist based in New York. Dos Santos works primarily in photography, sculpture and installation.

Through installation, sculpture and photography I work to promote strategies for healing. I incorporate reflective surfaces in my work. Through reflection the viewer is positioned to directly confront their conditioned perceptions of themselves. I focus on the gaze, particularly the gaze of the black female spectator in predominately white institutions. The mirrored surfaces, serve as a reclamation of autonomy and also, as a pathway to untangling webs of trauma. Through reflection and abstraction I’m imagining new possibilities for the formulation of identity.
