Artist Statement
As humans, we are constantly interacting with the synthetic and the organic, trying to do what is best for us and our environment while also trying to balance the practical and the most efficient way to progress as a society. Our world today has completely intertwined these two concepts, the synthetic and the organic, together to a point of no true distinction. With the use of very toxic and synthetic material, polyurethane foam, I have set out to create a space filled with organic forms made completely out of this non-organic material. These works are a commentary on our daily interactions in life and the thin veil of what is real and what is not. The idea is to create a bridge between the unnatural and the natural and through the use of this malleable but also very unpredictable material to create an atmosphere where the viewer is then asked to question their relationship with this environment around them.
