MoCCA Fest and a host of other comix events this week!

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art joyfully lets you know about the terrific MoCCA Fest panels & programming set for April 10 and 11, which include such comics luminaries as Kyle Baker, Gabrielle Bell, Kim Deitch, Emily Flake, Tom Hart, Dean Haspiel, Jaime Hernandez, Paul Karasik, Neil Kleid, Peter Kuper, Michael Kupperman, Hope Larson, David Mazzucchelli, Frank Miller, Josh Neufeld, Rick Parker, Paul Pope, Henrik Rehr, Alex Robinson, Frank Santoro, Dash Shaw, James Sturm, (Parsons Illustration Alum and Faculty) R. Sikoryak, Jillian Tamaki, Raina Telgemeier, Gahan Wilson and Craig Yoe!

Make sure to drop by the Parsons Illustration tables to see and buy a variety of student work including the latest issue of the student-produced zine Team Tiger Cobra!

(ChariPere.com), Eli Valley (EV Comics, The Jewish Daily Forward), and JT Waldman (Megillat Esther) as they discuss topics like “Why on Passover can you not draw comics on paper, only on matzoh?” and “Comics and kvetching, a match made on Krypton” and “Why has there not yet been a graphic novelization of Yentyl?”

For the third year in a row, D+Q will be exhibiting at the Brooklyn Book Festival. The festival has kindly invited Guy Delisle (Burma Chronicles, Pyongyang, Shenzhen) to be a special guest on the festival’s international stage, which will mark Delisle’s first-ever NYC event. D+Q cartoonists in attendance will be [Parsons Illustration Alum and Faculty] R. Sikoryak (Masterpiece Comics), R. O. Blechman (Talking Lines), Adrian Tomine (Shortcomings), Gabrielle Bell (Cecil & Jordan In New York) and Ron Rege Jr. (Skibber Bee Bye, Against Pain). To celebrate such a momentous gathering of D+Q cartoonists as well as toast to the company’s 20th Anniversary, please join us for cocktails at the Brooklyn purveyor of fine comics, Rocketship, on Saturday evening.

Illustration Faculty Frank Olinsky gave us the heads up about a fantastic event going on at Brooklyn’s own Rocketship, purveyor of fine comics, cartoons, and graphic novels..  Here’s the scoop from their blog:

BAT-MANGA!!! Slideshow Presentation and signing with editor/designer supreme CHIP KIDD, photographer extraordinaire GEOFF SPEAR, and translating superstar ANNE ISHII!!!

Beer and Wine will be served… what a great opportunity to get a signed copy of my current favorite Batman book, BAT-MANGA, for yourself, or for the Batman fan in your life!
