Urban Speculation

In my work, I recreate architecture, erasing people, erasing the idea of a city, and erasing time. As an expression of society, architecture is charged with a symbolic language that I attempt to override and manipulate, ultimately creating a desolate urban environment that resembles in its essence a post-war city scenario. By creating factious montages, I render a utopian reality that becomes a dystopia once realized. Drawing from Internet based imagery of utopian architecture, I perpetuate the style and the failure of the ideas that stand behind it. The end result of my composited images is a series of uncanny structures that create a city of fragments from the past, present and future.
