Lara Atallah

Lara Atallah’s work is about the photographic archive and the construction of national and historical discourse.  Taking my native country, Lebanon as my case study, I am researching images from 1960’s to 1975, i.e. the time period that preceded the civil war (1975-1990).  I am questioning the narratives that my generation has inherited from our parents’ generation.  I am also looking into the photographic medium itself as a tool and weapon that can be utilized in the fabrication and/or distortion of past events.
