Movie Star (2014)
This series of images documents my Aunt Janet, a 39-year-old woman with Down syndrome. My aunt asked me to make images of her, so this project became a collaborative effort working together to create each photograph. Using my aunt as the main subject for this work – a subject who is generally looked at as unconventional, odd, or different – we explore preconceptions of beauty, innocence, normalcy, and fame.
