Everyday Explorations in Children’s Illustration

My work focuses on capturing everyday childhood moments and transforming them into meaningful snapshots through my thesis books and illustrations. I have tried to create inclusionary children’s environments that are also fantastical, transforming the seemingly banal into child-like, saturated images. My work is also very diverse and focuses on children from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. No matter the child, these transformative moments are so important, especially in including their point of view in the books they read and the art they see. Small childhood experiences can mean so much more than adults can even imagine. From traveling through vacation destinations set in snow globes, to the softer, warmer moments of enjoying a family day poolside, my thesis work aims to highlight the importance and beauty of the everyday.
