  • A feeling of loss, grief, and longing for much older memories occurs when looking at images, drawings, and writings from my childhood. I’ve been dealing with the idea of loss since I was very young, so young that I can’t remember when I started. These feelings were so intense, so encompassing and overwhelming, that I had to act on them, try to recreate these memories in hopes of reliving them, to find out why I’ve dealt with grief for so long without directly experiencing it in regards to true death. Mine investigates the idea of childhood objects and family photographs intensely by experimenting with multi-media collage in a book form, aiming to evoke the overwhelming sense of grief and nostalgic feeling of childhood memories through found-photographs, drawings, and pieces of writing curated to be a cohesive “family photo album”. The project is essentially mine, for me, for my own purposes of therapy and healing, and gives others a glimpse into my reality. Although it is intended to be for me, being almost “too personal”, the experience of viewing as an outside individual is meant to be a relatable and emotional one, where you as the viewer go through a swarm of emotions; anger, sadness, happiness, love, hate, etc. You are meant to feel, to spend time thinking, to listen.
