As a teenage girl I felt empowered in my own body through movement and physical release. The stage gave me a platform to have a voice. This positivity wove throughout my life as I relied on this form of self-expression to feel strong as a woman. Inspired by a portrait I took at age seventeen, I search for the presence of young women in front of a camera that grasps intense honesty and moves through their progression of physical activity. Our Stage is a place to feel self-presenting, showcasing the power of young womanhood. I continue to be struck by the gestures of the girls in which they become a single force. In engaging with this element of their lives, together they command the compositions with ease. Passion holds a place of purpose and drives growth in this transitional phase of life.
