  • Charlie Davies is a photographer and multimedia artist. His work uses documentary photography, archival images, and place-based histories to challenge our links to each other and to the natural world.

  • Set Me Right Again explores human relationships with Pacific salmon, casting light on where ties have been severed, but also where they are being mended. The series of documentary photographs focuses mainly on one salmon hatchery run by the Suquamish Tribe, contextualizing modern fisheries through the history of how salmon came to be threatened in Washington’s Puget Sound. The project also incorporates archival photos of the area’s early commercial fishing industry, and considers the past and present of Coast Salish fishery practices. Its aim is both to illustrate the difficulties of current-day salmonid conservation efforts, and to challenge the idea that humans are inherently opposed to nature or bound to destroy it.
