  • Alison Dias is a photographer based in New York City. Her practice explores themes of identity, race and family history through the study of community experience, personal trauma and memory.

  • when you walk under the afternoon sun do you talk to your shadow? Do you walk beside it, or do you turn it away? Before I was born, I witnessed violence. It’s in the air. A constant string of manipulation, greed, self loathing and selfishness that consciously follows. By creating redactions of my father in my family archive, I acknowledge that he is in my shadow. I am exploring the effects of generational trauma through the lens of domestic abuse and love.
