Ray Sreshthaputra is a Thai visual artist whose creativity and innovation span a diverse range of mediums. His work is inspired by the natural environment.

Beyond The Hill is a multimedia video piece composed of re-interpreted found imagery, ambient sounds, color intensity waveforms, and found text, presented in a three-screen multichannel video. The found images are taken from newspapers and books before being scanned, abstracted and cropped into a video format. The text gives context to the photographs and alludes to a way of reading the images that fits the narrative of climate change and the environmental impact that humans have on the planet.

In today’s media saturated world, it seems we have reached a point of compassion fatigue, whereby the images of environmental damage circulating our lives becomes normalized in the midst of the overwhelming amount of images many of us consume on a day to day basis. Sometimes not showing something directly can be the most emotional way to get across a message.
