  • Michael Svizzero is an artist/photographer from Holbrook, Massachusetts. He received his BFA in Photography at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Additional education includes a semester at SACI College of Art and Design in Florence, Italy where he was exhibited in their 2020 Spring Virtual Exhibition. Being a queer artist, his work is researched and largely inspired by queer visuality, representation, and personal reflections. With an interest in gender norms he often uses his work to comment on how conditioning can effect queer people among others outside of a social system.

  • The social construct of how one should perform as a man is based on a heteronormative archetype which excludes all who do not perform the act of “manly- hood” properly. With this project, I am investigating how I, along with other specifically queer people like me, have been pressured or conditioned to act in ways which have made them feel excluded. Additionally I am interested in representing and visualizing the toll this construct can put on someone’s mental health, and even disorder the perspective they have on their own gender and self identity.
