Charles Williams is a mixed-race photographer documenting work based on family, identity, heritage, beauty, and fashion. He received a BFA in photography at Parsons School of Design 2021. He has won awards and been featured in Shoutout Loud UK 2020, Hypebeast, Luna Collective, VSCO, Eye C Magazine, Vogue, and Afropunk.

“Ain’t Suga Cute” is exploring and understanding my grandmother’s life through my eyes. “Ain’t Suga Cute” is what my grandmother would say when talking about someone special to her. Her name GrandFran symbolizes happiness and royalty. My relationship with GrandFran is monumental and loving. This project explores how I identify her life and her story. How we can unravel and conversate over race, beauty, class, heritage, and identity. Being in her space and my space. Her life brings a lot of joy to me.
