University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is currently conducting a search for two full-time, tenure track Assistant Professors in Graphic Design. The program is seeking individuals that will be adept at negotiating the territory separating print, motion-based and digital/social media. These individuals will have an active role in developing undergraduate and graduate curriculum in Graphic Design.

The program is comprised of three faculty members whose practice and points of view expand and redefine the notions of graphic design for their students and the profession. Currently, the program maintains a population of 70 undergraduate students and four graduate students. With the addition of new faculty, it is hoped to expand the program numbers and share design classes with the school, college, and university.

Student and faculty work are supported by labs for traditional and contemporary media, including spaces for digital imaging, audiovisual editing, rapid prototyping, darkroom and digital printing. Bookbinding, letterpress, screen printing, and printmaking facilities are also available. The School also offers undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Industrial Design, Metals, New Media, Painting, Photography, and Sculpture.

As part of the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Illinois, the School of Art + Design offers ready opportunity for collaborations with Krannert Art Museum and Krannert Center for Performing Arts, and with active departments of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Dance, Theater, and Music. Faculty Scholarship and teaching is also supported on campus by such units as the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, Center for Advanced Study, and the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.
