This position will support ongoing design, coding, and programming for India China Institute’s website. The designer will work closely with the Senior Director of the institute, project manager, and editors to improve user experience and navigation within the website. www.indiachinainstitute.org

Hours/week: 7-10

Responsibilities
– Develop and build out design schemes for India China Institute website – Provide design, coding, and programming support for India China Institute website – Provide creative solutions to improve user experience, fine tune search functions, drop down menus, category and tagging schemes

Requirements
– 2+ years developing web sites and web interfaces – Experience working on large, multi-part, CMS-driven web applications – Experience developing, debugging, and optimizing WordPress themes (plug-ins is a plus) – Must be able to clearly demonstrate current WP experience with live online examples – Solid understanding of an commitment to web standards, accessibility guidelines, and web usability – Strong command of HTML/XHTML and CSS – Familiarity with object-oriented PHP – In addition to having demonstrated technical knowledge, the successful applicant must also have strong sense of visual design and content management
