Topics: games, information visualization, mobile media, learning
Activities: Research, website design, game design, presentations, motion graphics and more (depending on your skill set)
Now – June 30th

Come work with me on the research project “DataPlay!” We are designing new kinds of games and play with real-world datasets, revealing the systems underlying information through play. This is an initiative of PETLab (http://petlab.parsons.edu) – a game research lab and a dedicated group of faculty and students excited about the potential of games in learning and new forms of social civic engagement.

Your job would be to help with this research: find and compile descriptions and materials of work done to date in this area, talk to other game designers, create a site to house and share this research, and possibly help in the preparation of presentations and papers on the topic. You might also engage in some experimental game design around the topic if that is of interest, or assist in events such as Games for Change (May) and Come Out and Play (June). I am seeking someone with basic writing skills, web research and design skills, an interest in game design and a good sense of humor to deal with my corny jokes.

The schedule is flexible, and goes through June.

This position is funded at $2,000, entailing approx. 20 hours a week (summer weeks can be more hours than those during the semester)

Interested? email colleenmacklin@gmail.com with your info (a resumé) and samples of your work!
