New York Times' Blog "The Local" Covers Last Week's Parsons/Pratt Benefit Show

We here at the School of Art, Media and Technology are so proud of the spontaneous, Fine Arts student-organized benefit auction and exhibition that raised over a thousand dollars for Pratt Institute’s Fire Recovery Fund, and the level of press it’s received! First the Wall Street Journal, and now New York Times blog, The Local, has highlighted the event, the exhibiting Pratt students, and the Parsons students and NRM Gallery founders who first reached out to help.

From the article:

“I lost everything,” Ms. Novak said. “I took pictures of my studio and I’m just trying to reconstruct it by doing a floor plan in my sketchbook … There’s so much that was in there.”

As they grapple with devastating losses, students like Ms. Novak are working on new pieces — and they’re getting some help from the New York City arts community. Some Pratt students’ latest, post-fire works went on display last week in Manhattan, at Parsons The New School for Design on East 13th Street.

Parsons seniors Robert Hickerson, Taylor Falco and Tara Long reached out to Pratt students, and offered to host the March 7 exhibition and fundraiser to help their Brooklyn colleagues. The more than $1,000 raised that night will be donated to Pratt Institute’s fire recovery fund.
