Connected Health Solutions (CHS) is seeking a part-time intern to assist CHS staff in employing new media tools (including digital video and editing) to work with organizations that outreach to “at-risk” populations (such as inner city youth).
CHS is a public health consultancy with an Internet-based capacity building assistance initiative targeting community based organizations as well as state and local health departments across the country. The focus of the initiative is to assist client organizations to increase their capacity to create sound, measurable and ethical Internet-based health promotion and disease prevention services to reach a myriad of at-risk populations through the use of new media.
Intern Responsibilities:
The media intern will be assisting in providing support in the compilation and creation of youth’s media projects to assist organizations in their efforts to incorporate these new media strategies into their programs. These projects are fun and exciting for organization staff and we are looking for a fun intern with lots of energy and possibly an interest in public and sexual health promotion strategies.
The media intern will ideally possess:
knowledge, experience and skills in digital video editing and the ability to explain and teach these skills
strong understanding of and interest in social media and Internet tools and the ability to apply them for programmatic purposes
strong understanding of how the new media and social media landscape changes, new trends, and the latest tools and technologies
ability to work with youth in the creation of media messaging
interest in social justice and public health issues
Time Period: Immediately-May/June 2010
$500-1000 Stipend Provided
