LG has one new TV that is excellent at displaying contrast and color – better than pretty much anything created to date – called an OLED TV. It has another new TV that is excellent at displaying detail/clarity with more than 8 million pixels – callled Ultra HD TV. We are reaching out to the art community for works that demonstrate how amazing these TVs can really be if displaying the right content. To do so, we’re commissioning a competition featuring a selection of the top art schools in the country where you, the students, create and submit new media artworks meant to be displayed on the TV as the medium. There will be a winning artist from each school who receives a cash prize and will be featured in an LG-organized gala in NYC. At the gala, an overall winner will be selected and win an additional cash prize. Judges will include a credited art expert, who will be announced this summer. See additional details below.

The Prompt

LG is accepting new media works (both still and moving image) that follow the following guidelines:

› Aspect Ratio: 16:9

› Resolution:

Video: minimum 1920 x 1080 pixels Still: minimum 3840 x 2160 pixels

› Maximum lenght: 90 seconds

› File format(s):

Video: MP4 Still: JPEG

LG is especially looking for works that demonstrate the two displays’ exceptional qualities.

LG is providing your school with both an OLED TV and Ultra HD TV as well as our best current content, so you can create something better (and have a way to reference what your work will look like on the TV).
