Ernesto Klar, AMT faculty member and Parsons alum, was recently awarded the 1st prize of the FILE PRIX LUX 2010 in the Interactive Arts category for his latest installation art piece, titled “Relational Lights.” This piece was also selected as a finalist for the SHARE Prize 2010. The FILE PRIX LUX is an international digital arts competition part of the FILE FESTIVAL (the Electronic Language International Festival) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The SHARE Prize is an international digital arts competition part of the SHARE FESTIVAL in Turin, Italy.

“Luzes Relacionais” (Relational Lights) is an interactive audiovisual installation that explores our relationship with the expressional-organic character of space. The installation uses light, sound, haze, and a custom-software system to create a morphing, three-dimensional light-space in which spectators actively participate, manipulating it with their presence and movements. “Luzes Relacionais” pays homage to the work and aesthetic inquiry of Brazilian artist Lygia Clark.
