CUP is pleased to announce an upcoming teaching opportunity. They are seeking a teaching artist to design and implement a neighborhood-based project on land use issues. CUP’s project-based curricula enable students to explore fundamental questions about how the city works, through collaborative research and design. The project will be executed at three different Brooklyn high schools with different groups of public high school students. There will be a final session bringing the three groups together to present their work.

The programs will meet after school during the month of March for three sessions at each site and one final presentation, for a total of 10 sessions.

CUP teaching artists and designers work with CUP staff to develop course ideas, schedules, lesson plans, and to document the project. The teaching artist will be paid $3000, and there is a separate budget for materials and other project costs.

Instructions for applicants:

Please submit a cover letter, a CV, contact information for two references, and a work sample with up to five images of what you consider to be your strongest visual work (not work produced by students you may have worked with). Please send all material as a single PDF to info@anothercupdevelopment.org by Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 5 pm. For audio or video work samples, please provide a link.
