What is perception? What does it mean “to see”? By optically embedding and fusing different perspectives of the physical environment, Matthew Scerbak explores the inner landscape of human perception and the importance of context in forming our understanding of the world. Critical to this exploration is a photographic apparatus designed and built by the artist to achieve real-time merger of stillness and movement, a conflation of time, space, and viewpoint that more closely approximates human vision and the acquisition of sense data comprising perception.
