Laura is an illustrator and comic book artist who enjoys telling stories about family, love, culture, and loneliness using a mix of various traditional and digital mediums. She often draws inspiration from her imagination and daydreams as well as her experiences living in New York City and Shanghai. Her senior thesis project, a graphic novel titled Nowhere, is about a girl’s journey into a bizarre and dangerous world after her father’s mysterious death. In the first chapter, “Appointment with the Dead,” we follow the protagonist as she is burning joss paper in memory of her father, and we begin to see strange events unfold. This chapter is drawn using a mix of charcoal, pencil, and digital tools. Some of Laura’s other works include Ghost Town, a short comic about a small, isolated town that is haunted by its residents, and Choreography, a digital illustration created in response to the theme of intimacy.
