Angelica’s Dream is an interactive visual novel where you play as a rabbit named Angelica faced with difficult choices. Angelica wakes up in a strange place amongst other rabbits and it is up to the player to explore the environment and talk to the other rabbits to gain clues. In the second half, A woman reveals herself as Mother the owner of a Rabbit Sanctuary which she has taken these rabbits to. (SPOILERS AHEAD!) The player is then invited inside the sanctuary where it is revealed that Angelica is a spy working for Mother in order to gain the trust of the other Rabbits. The sanctuary is actually a farm to raise rabbits to feed to a mysterious creature trapped in the basement. In the end, Angelica has to make the hard decision to choose a rabbit to feed to the monster in the basement. This dream is a representation of Angelica’s traumatizing memories that she has been forced to forget. To wake up from the dream the player must make uncomfortable choices that represent Angelica’s past mistakes and accept her faults in order to move on. The dream will keep repeating itself if the player chooses to sacrifice themselves because it represents avoiding responsibility for Angelica’s actions. (TRIGGER WARNING!) The underlying themes of this game deals with the sexual abuse of children in developing countries therefore this game is meant for teenagers and adults. I wanted to highlight how cyber sex crimes committed against children in developing countries operates differently because it is motivated by greed rather than the sick desire to abuse children which comes second. There are depictions of blood and violence so proceed with caution.
