Funyral
Growing up in New York City as a person of color we are constantly fighting for space, whether that is in our neighborhoods, getting into the schools of our choice, or jobs we are interested in. As the city changes around us we each must make a decision, do we move and take up space elsewhere or do we share our space and fight for representation and having a voice. As someone who has stayed and has no plan of leaving I choose to reclaim my space in New York city through the only way I know how, my art. Through the power of music, clothing, and painting we are able to create our own space within our city and be a voice for the underprivileged communities that are often overshadowed or misrepresented. Through art we create our own cultural space powered and controlled by us. Doing this work we can inspire each other as well as other underrepresented communities.
