  • An intimate collection of short zines produced using personal journals and experiences.

This collection of zines were generated from my own insecurities, they range from struggles with acne to mental illness. The zines allow a viewer to dive into my brain and thought processes. All of the zines will be published digitally, and printed in the future. While the zines exist as 2D visuals for the viewer, the Anna Doll takes invisible elements of an eating disorder and makes them real and 3D. The doll’s clothing was purposefully made to be ill fitting, so one can see how difficult it is to dress oneself with body dysmorphia. The complete thesis is a combination of the zine collection as well as the Anna Doll, creating an experience for the audience to interact with. The elements combined show different struggles of someone with everyday insecurities as well as living with mental illnesses. All of the elements of my thesis are meant to be experienced together. I hope that those who interact with my work can feel comforted and entertained by experiences and words. As an artist I often create autobiographical work, exploring themes of trauma and intimacy. The thesis project that I have created is directly from my own experiences in an effort to almost self-therapize myself through-out the absolute mess of 2020. Each zine was created in a stream-of-consciousness manner depending on what was on my mind at the time. It has been an entertaining and rewarding process of creation.
