Suspended Space

Images of biomes under scrutiny of time, scale and space.

My thesis follows a theme of displacement by seeking to contrast vibrant organic forms against the visual ideas of containment and suspended space. In the case of ‘Aquarium,’ the image depicts an unnamed character seemingly ensnared by a self-contained prism of sea life. Though seemingly well-defined, the prism’s parameters deliberately contradict themselves at various points in an effort to foster a dimensional ambiguity. This is enforced by the loose suggestion of a forced perspective. The culminating work depicts a figurative biosphere, accented by visual depth and a simple atmospheric animation.
