In Transit

Kami Eshai is a documentary photographer based in Los Angeles, California.

“In Transit” is a documentation of Los Angeles through the window of a moving car. As an LA native, I’ve sat in traffic for hundreds of hours throughout my life. My response as a photographer was to start shooting. For 6 months in 2020, I undertook this project by going on 56 drives, traveling through different streets and neighborhoods across the city. There is a perception of what Los Angeles is, but through photographing a variety of people, places, and things, I’ve created a portrait of my Los Angeles.
